Basic Services Info

The FreeThinker IRC Network provides its users with services for registering nicknames, sending memos, and channel registration, virtual hosts customization & Bot service system. The FreeThinker IRC Network provides the software, hardware, and staff to maintain these services. Currently, these are our own customized services.

The two main services which FreeThinker provides are ChanServ and NickServ. ChanServ handles the creation and administration of channels and NickServ allows you to register and administrate your username(s). MemoServ is also available to allow users to send memos to each other.

Hostserv and Botserv are extra services that we also provide for you. Hostserv will allow you to have your own choosen Vhost name for your ip and Botserv will provide you a Bot  for your channels.

This is a short guide to aid you in the use of services. If you need additional help, feel free to ask our ops in #help or to any network administrator. However, we do ask that you try to use the commands below (and familiarise yourself with them) to find the answers to your questions.

This guide comes in handy for a couple of reasons:
If you are in need of help and no one is around to help you at that time, you'll have a resource at hand to assist you in your time of need.
The number of questions you have will decrease as you learn the help commands and how to use them.

To communicate to services, you can use the /msg command or simply type the service name.

For general services listing:
/helpserv help

For Nickname services and registration type:
/nickserv help

For channel services and registration help type:
/chanserv help

For Hostserv help and services type:
/hostserv help

For Botserv help and services type:
/botserv help

For some commands sent to services, it is required that you are identified first. For information on identifying please see the relevant ChanServ or NickServ page.

Although this tutorial will help you understand the basic commands of IRC, you may want to learn more about services such as NickServ and ChanServ. For more detailed information on services available for your username and your channel, as well as some other tools you may find handy, visit the appropriate wiki pages which are linked throughout.
Live Support
On the  IRC network itself, you can join the channel #help, where a team of representatives will be available to assist you. They are all busy people, so please restrict your questions to those related to  and basic IRC help.

Good luck!
